Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Oslo
Your Norwegian adventure officially begins when you arrive at Gardermoen Airport, where your driver will meet and greet you and transfer you to your accommodation in the heart of Oslo City, Thon Hotel Bristol. After you’ve checked into your room and settled in, your travel consultant in Norway will meet you at your hotel, going over every detail of your trip and answering any questions you might have. In the evening, you’ll have a gourmet dinner at the beautiful hotel restaurant, Bristol Grill.

Day 2: From city to fjord
Today we leave the city lights behind and head to the magical Geirangerfjord with our guide. Our first stop on the way is the town of Lillehammer, famous for hosting the Winter Olympics in 1994. After a short stop in Lillehammer, we’ll head into the beautiful Gudbrands Valley, which leads us to the town of Lom. In Lom, you’ll find one of the very few remaining stave churches in the world, built in the 14th century. We’ll stop for lunch here, while enjoying the view of some of the highest mountains in Northern Europe.

After lunch, we’ll continue our journey to Geiranger. Now you just lie back in your seat and enjoy the beautiful view on the scenic ride. After our arrival in Geiranger, you’ll check into your hotel, Hotel Union, where you’ll have a breathtaking view of the fjord. In the evening, you’ll dine at the excellent hotel restaurant.

Day 3: The magical fjords and magnificent glacier
After enjoying breakfast at Hotel Union, we’ll board the ferry that will take us into the Geirangerfjord on our way to Hellesylt. This one-hour cruise is sure to leave even the toughest individuals breathless. As we pass the Seven Sisters and Bridal Veil waterfalls, you’ll get to experience being just an arm’s length away from one of nature’s most incredible phenomena.

After arriving in Hellesylt, we’ll continue our journey on land through the dramatic Loedalen, through the villages of Stryn and Loen. Once we pass Loen, we’ll drive down to Briksdal, where the so-called troll cars will be waiting to take us up towards the Briksdal Glacier. Once there, you’ll find yourself only 700 meters away from the magnificent glacier. After you’ve explored a bit of the area, the “troll cars” will take you back down to Briksdal, where we’ll enjoy lunch before continuing our journey to our final destination of the day, Balestrand. This drive is as scenic as everything you experienced before the lunch stop. At this point, we’ll be passing under the Jostedal Glacier. We then drive through Sogn Fjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Norway, passing numerous waterfalls along our way to Balestrand, our resort for the night. After checking in to our hotel, Hotel Kviknes, we’ll enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and some fine dining at the hotel restaurant.

Day 4: A day in Balestrand
Today you’ll have a chance to recharge your batteries in the beautiful Sognefjord. Balestrand offers many activity options for those who want to get out and about.

If you visit the Balestrand Aquarium, you’ll have access to the aquarium rowing boats as well as kayaks. For those who wish to explore on foot, Balestrand is a perfect spot for hikers. Surrounded by some of Norway’s most beautiful mountains, you’ll feel the energy from each mountain as the magical nature of Sognefjord embraces you on your hike.

Your tour consultant will be more than happy to assist you with booking available activities if requested.

In the evening, you’ll dine at the Kviknes Hotel again, then have a night’s rest after an eventful day in Balestrand.

Day 5: Fjords and a scenic train ride
After some time out from traveling, it’s time to continue our journey. We start by boarding the ferry from Balestrand to Vangsnes. Once in Vangsnes, we’re back on the road again, heading towards Gudvangen, where we’ll take another water voyage. From Gudvangen, we’ll go on a magical cruise along the Aurland and Næroyfjords, fingers of the Sogn Fjord. On this two-hour cruise, you’ll once again find yourself in the midst of breathtaking natural wonders, from ice-peaked mountaintops to a great variety of wildlife. This stretch of our voyage leads us to the beautiful village of Flåm, located at the inner end of Aurlandsfjord.

Once in Flåm, you’ll board the train, which travels one of the world’s steepest railway lines, between Myrdal and Flåm. This is an incredible 20km ride with a difference in altitude of 900 meters. This magnificent railway has been voted one of the 20 best in the world.

After enjoying lunch in Flåm, we’ll continue our journey towards the village of Voss before reaching our final destination of the day, Bergen. Once in Bergen, you’ll check in to your room at the Radisson SAS Hotel. After settling into your room, you’ll enjoy a gourmet meal in the relaxing environment of the hotel’s restaurant.

Day 6: Bergen and then back home
Today you’ll take a flight from Bergen to Oslo (not included), and from Oslo you’ll fly back home. If you have an afternoon flight, we recommend you make an early start of it and go on an introductory stroll around Bergen.

In Bergen, you’ll find Bryggen, a UNESCO-designated World Heritage site. You’ll find yourself surrounded by exceptional old houses amongst Bergen’s vibrant fish and flower market. A ride on one of the cable cars offers you a stunning view of the city and its surroundings.

If you would like an extra day to explore the city of Bergen, your tour consultant will be more than happy to add one extra night to your package.
