Day 1: Arrival in Oslo
Arrival at Gardermoen Airport; meet-and-greet, followed by transfer to your accommodation in the heart of Oslo City. If you arrive early, we recommend getting the Oslo Tourist Pass, which provides free travel on all public transport, free admission to over 25 museums and sites, discounts on further attractions and sightseeing, restaurants and shops. Day 2: The Scenic Mountain Valley
Start the day in Oslo by visiting the Norwegian Folk Museum to learn about the fascinating Viking culture. Leave Oslo around noon and start the drive through the Hallingdal Valley on your way to Geilo, a charming mountain village. On this scenic drive, you will pass delightful ski centres, and travel through beautiful forested dales and plateaus. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Geilo.
Day 3: The Magnificent Hardangerfjord
From Geilo, you will continue the journey to Bergen. The drive will take you past the Hardangervidda National Park to the inner parts of beautiful Hardangerfjord, with its spectacular views. On your way you will pass such highlights as the impressive waterfall, Vøringfossen—the highest in Norway, with a 182-metre cascade—and the dramatic and narrow Måbødalen valley, along Eidfjord. Day 4: Bergen, the World Heritage Site
Bergen is a wonderful city, full of life and culture. In this “must-visit” city, you will find Bryggen, listed by Unesco as a World Heritage site; exceptional old houses; a vibrant fish and flower market; cable cars offering stunning views; great museums; dynamic culture, and more. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Bergen.
Day 5: The World’s Longest and Deepest Fjord
The day will start by heading to Norway’s adventure capital, Voss. In Voss, you can try out one of the many thrilling activities the town and its hinterland have to offer. Another option would be to visit the beautiful Aurlandsfjorden, to experience the truly enjoyable train ride between Flåm and Myrdal. Your journey will continue as you head on to the Sognefjorden—Norway’s longest and deepest fjord—taking in such highlights as the towns of Stalheim and Aurlandsdalen, before reaching Sogndal, your final destination of the day. Day 6: Glacier and Geirangerfjord
Head out for another exciting day in the fjords and mountains of Norway. From Sogndal, drive the Fjærlands Road to see the graceful Jostedal Glacier, mainland Europe’s largest icecap. Then continue via Lake Jolster, Loen and Stryn to Hellesylt, where you will take the ferry on the lovely Geiranger Fjord, which can easily be considered the most beautiful fjord in the world. Here you will find magnificent and impressive waterfalls, such as the Seven Sisters and Bridal Veil. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in the Geiranger area.
Day 7: Ålesund’s beautiful Art Nouveau architecture
Enjoy a relaxing morning in Geiranger before taking the shortest road across Nordalsfjorden, and along Storfjorden to Ålesund. Spend the rest of the day exploring the beautiful Art Nouveau architecture in the city centre, or visiting the Atlantic Sea Park. If you want to learn more about the history of the town, visit the Sunnmøre Museum or the Jugend Center Museum. You should also walk the stairs up to the city mountain Aksla, to enjoy the stunning view from Fjellstua. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Ålesund.
Day 8: Gudbrandsdalen and the Olympic Town of Lillehammer
Drive from Ålesund through Gudbrandsdalen to Lillehammer, the host town of the 1994 Winter Olympics. In Lillehammer, you can visit the Maihaugen open-air museum, the Olympic Museum and/or the Lysgårdsbakken Olympic Arena. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Lillehammer.
Day 9: Oslo, the End of Line
Start the day in Lillehammer and then drive to Oslo, to close the circle. In Oslo, you can spend the rest of the day visiting Frognerparken, the Holmenkollen ski jumping arena, or just relax and enjoy a good meal at one of the capital’s many fabulous restaurants. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Oslo City Central.
Day 10: Departure
Transfer express train to Gardermoen International Airport. If your flight is in the afternoon, then you will have time for some last-minute shopping or a visit to one of Oslo’s many museums, or just relax at a café after an enjoyable holiday.
